Description

Cumin is the dried seed of Cuminum Cyminum. Cuminum Cyminum is a small herb in the parsley family. Cumin seeds are pale yellowish brown in color and are uniformly elliptical and deeply furrowed. Cumin has a distinctive flavor. It's slightly pungent and has a musty and earthy flavor along with some grassy notes. Ground Cumin is stronger than whole seeds.

Origin

Cumin originally comes from Iran. India and Turkey are also producers of Cumin. Cumin is an ancient spice. It was believed that when bride and groom carried Cumin Seed throughout the wedding ceremony, they would lead a happy wedded life.
