Origin

California is one of the sources of Garlic. Garlic was first cultivated by the French Settlers in New Orleans. The missionaries, then brought it to California, where it is grown, today.
Garlic is indigenous to central Asia. However, its use spread across the world more than 5000 years ago. Ancient Greek athletes ate Garlic to build their strength. Around 2600 B.C., the Egyptians worshipped Garlic and it was fed to workers building the Great Pyramid at Giza. The use of Garlic spread rapidly after it was first brought to the Western Hemisphere by some of the first European explorers.
