Description

Mint leaves come from two important species, Mentha Spicata (spearmint) and Mentha Piperita (peppermint). Mint has dark green leaves that have a pleasant fresh, warm, aromatic, sweet flavor with a cool aftertaste. Hence, good as breath fresheners.

Origin

Spearmint and peppermint are both native to Asia. Mint is commercially cultivated in the U.S. and Egypt. In the U.S., spearmint grew wild after the 1600s.

Use

Mint is used in variety of cuisines around the world. A very popular and famous use of mint would be in the mint jelly that is typically served with lamb.
